The companion album to the highly acclaimed film by Brett Morgen, MOONAGE DAYDREAM, offers a captivating glimpse into the life and genius of David Bowie, one of the most influential and creative artists of our era. Featuring never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, Morgen’s (The Kid Stays in the Picture, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, Jane) full-length cinematic journey delves into Bowie’s artistic, musical, and spiritual evolution. As the first officially sanctioned film on the artist, MOONAGE DAYDREAM is narrated by Bowie himself.
The accompanying album showcases songs from throughout Bowie’s career and includes previously unheard material, exclusive mixes crafted for the film and this release, as well as dialogue from Bowie. Highlights consist of a previously unreleased live medley of “The Jean Genie / Love Me Do / The Jean Genie” recorded live at the final Ziggy Stardust concert at Hammersmith Odeon in 1973, with Jeff Beck on guitar. Other rarities encompass an early version of the Hunky Dory favorite “Quicksand” and a previously unreleased live rendition of “Rock ‘n’ Roll With Me” from the iconic 1974 Soul Tour.
